Our Mission & history

The mission of Calvary Baptist Church is to reach & teach men, women, boys, & girls for Jesus Christ.

History:

Calvary Baptist Church was founded in 1972 by Tommy Colvin. Calvary began in a small strip mall located about five miles from our present location. This building still exists and is on 15th Street between the intersection of 26th Avenue and R&K Enterprises. Under Tommy’s ministry the church purchased the former Garywood Assembly of God building located on Old Warrior River Road, behind Garywood’s present location. During the early 1990’s the church begin to grow and found itself in need of a larger facility. With not enough land to expand, Calvary began to pray and seek out another location. In 1995 the former location was sold and the land where we are located today was purchased. Calvary moved into the Concord Community Center as the current building was built. We moved into our current location in February of 1996. Since its beginning the church has had five pastors. In order, they include: Tommy Colvin, Dee Ogletree, Billy Denton, Roger Reach, and Jimmy King. Jimmy served as Calvary’s pastor from 1991-2015. He was the longest serving pastor in Calvary’s history. From its incorporation until today, Calvary Baptist Church continues to serve Jesus Christ and the community faithfully. We invite you to come & see the difference, see the miracle!
